TORONTO FC UNVEIL NEW “UNITY KIT” AHEAD OF MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER’S 25th SEASON

Team jerseys include a partner sleeve patch for the first time in club history

Toronto FC unveiled the team’s new secondary jersey for its 14th season at an exclusive Major League Soccer (MLS) and adidas launch event as part of Fashion Week in New York City yesterday.

MLS and adidas collectively revealed all 26 clubs’ 2020 jersey designs in a single moment celebrating the league’s commemorative 25th season. Toronto-based OVO Sound and R&B duo Majid Jordan (Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman) modelled the “Unity Kit” on the runway at the star-studded “FORWARD25” event at New York's Penn Plaza Pavilion.

“We believe our city’s diversity and passion are captured in our Unity Kit,” said Bill Manning, President, Toronto FC. “We hope our fans will proudly wear the jersey during what we expect to be another exciting season.”

The 2020 “Unity Kit” showcases the team’s diverse fanbase, while also incorporating a modern v-neck design bringing style and freshness to the kit. The team’s primary crest is prominent at the heart of the jersey with a silver star above the crest representing the team’s 2017 MLS Cup Championship. The back of the jersey features the flag of Toronto highlighting its strong connection to the city the team calls home.

In a subtle nod to 28 surrounding cities and regions within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) where fans embark on BMO Field to cheer on the Reds, the jersey’s jock tag includes inscriptions of Ajax, Aurora, Brampton, Brock, Burlington, Caledon, Clarington, East Gwillimbury, Etobicoke, Georgina, Halton Hills, King, Markham, Milton, Mississauga, Newmarket, North York, Oakville, Oshawa, Pickering, Richmond Hill, Scarborough, Scugog, Toronto, Uxbridge, Vaughan, Whitby and Whitchurch-Stouffville, which are visible under “ALL FOR ONE” – the football club’s motto. The jersey also features a new interlocking jacquard stripe design representing the cultural diversity of the GTA coming together in the spirit of uniting as “All For One.”

The jersey includes a sleeve patch featuring GE Appliances Canada, a first in club history, and sees the club return to wearing light grey for the first time since 2009. A global leader in kitchen and laundry appliances, GE Appliances became the club’s first and exclusive major appliance partner in May 2019, and is now the club’s first shirt sleeve partner. As part of the multi-year partnership, all Toronto FC home and away jerseys until the 2023 season will include a GE Appliances patch on the right sleeve. GE Appliances is also committed to supporting the Canadian soccer community through programs with Toronto FC Juniors and Toronto FC Academy.

“We’re very proud to be the inaugural sleeve patch partner, alongside the Reds at every important moment when the team hits the pitch,” said Bob Park, Chief Brand Officer for GE Appliances Canada. “No sport has showcased more heart and passion than the TFC community- from the fans, to the coaches, to the players to supporters like us. What better place to show our commitment than on the sleeve?”

BMO, a proud partner since the club’s inaugural MLS season in 2007, continues to be the primary jersey partner on the “Unity Kit” and remains visible across the front. The 2020 jersey is now available at Toronto FC’s online store and to celebrate the “Unity Kit” launch, Toronto FC will host an exclusive kit launch event of their own later this month.
