June 19, 2019 [TORONTO, ON] - Café is using augmented reality to help Canadian consumers see exactly how the company’s appliances would look in their own kitchens. Using Facebook photo effects, the brand’s new mobile tool allows users to virtually replace their existing appliances with a Café appliance - including the opportunity to experiment with the Café’s beautiful Matte White and Matte Black finishes, and customizable hardware.
“We launched Café in March to bring bespoke design into the kitchen,” says Bob Park, Chief of Brands for GE Appliances Canada about the brand, which offers an industry-first opportunity to customize appliances with the hardware of your choice. “But we know that having more options can make it that much harder to choose the perfect product for your space. This new Facebook AR filter is designed to help make the decision easier for Canadians, allowing them to truly picture our products - in all configurations - in their own kitchens.”
Operated through the camera function in the Facebook mobile app, a user simply needs to hold their phone up to their current fridge, range or dishwasher to see what the space would look like with a Café appliance in its place. The finished image can be saved as a photo or video. Users can access the tool by clicking a link found on the brand’s Facebook or Instagram page.
The category-first filter was designed by Café’s digital agency - No Fixed Address - and is currently available in Canada only. The filter is being promoted through the brand’s website and social channels.
